First Time in Dubai: A Calm Arrival Checklist
· 4 min read
A short, practical checklist for a smooth first arrival in Dubai — from documents to transfers and what to arrange in advance.
Dubai International is efficient, but it is also large and busy. A little preparation turns a long arrival into a short one.
Before you fly
Confirm your travel documents are valid and that any required entry permissions are in place well ahead of departure. Keep digital and printed copies of your booking confirmations somewhere easy to reach.
Decide how you are getting from the airport to your hotel before you land. Arranging a transfer in advance removes the one decision nobody wants to make after a long flight.
On the day
Note your terminal, not just your airline — terminals in Dubai are far apart. If someone is meeting you, agree the exact meeting point in writing, and share your flight number so any delay is tracked.
After you arrive
Keep hydrated, allow for the change in climate, and give yourself an unhurried first evening. Dubai rewards travellers who arrive rested.
