Cairo, the Red Sea and the Nile Valley are all connected by long road journeys. Here is how to plan transfers that hold up on the day.
Egypt is bigger than most itineraries assume. A trip that looks compact on a map can involve several long transfers, and the quality of those transfers shapes the whole journey.
Airport to hotel
The first transfer sets the tone. Arranging it in advance means a driver is already tracking your flight, and you are not negotiating anything at the kerb after a long journey.
Intercity journeys
Routes such as Cairo to El Alamein, or Hurghada along the Red Sea coast, are best planned with a comfortable vehicle, an experienced driver and realistic timings that account for stops.
Longer routes
Journeys towards Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel need particular attention to departure times and rest breaks. Discuss the plan with your provider rather than assuming a single fixed duration.
