Your terminal decides your lounge
At Dubai International the airline sets the terminal, and the terminal sets which lounges you can reach. Terminal 3 is Emirates territory across three concourses, Terminal 1 handles most other international carriers, and Terminal 2 serves regional and low-cost flights. You cannot walk between Terminal 2 and the other two after security, so check your terminal on your ticket before planning a lounge visit.
marhaba or Ahlan — what is the difference?
Both are pay-to-enter lounges open to travellers who are not flying in a premium cabin. marhaba lounges appear in all three terminals and generally allow the longest stays, which suits a long overnight connection. Ahlan lounges sit inside Terminal 3 across Concourses A, B and C and are convenient when your gate is already in that terminal. Emirates' own lounges are a separate matter: they are limited to Emirates premium passengers and eligible members.
Where a personal greeter fits in
A lounge helps once you are already past the queues. What it does not do is walk you through immigration, carry your bags or hand you to your driver. That is what our meet & assist service is for: a representative meets you at the gate, moves you through formalities, handles your luggage and takes you to your car. Lounge access can be arranged with the Premium package on request, and is included with the VIP package.
Practical points before you go
A few things travellers regularly get caught by at DXB:
- DXB peaks after midnight, so most lounges run around the clock — a 3am connection is no obstacle.
- Lounge capacity is not guaranteed at peak hours; booking ahead is safer than walking up.
- Individual lounges close for refurbishment from time to time — confirm the exact lounge close to your travel date.
- If you are connecting between terminals, allow transfer time; a lounge in the wrong terminal is of no use.
