Arrival in high season
Hurghada is a resort airport, and that shapes the arrival. Charter and scheduled flights from Europe and the Gulf land in clusters, so the passport hall can be quiet one hour and full the next. Many nationalities obtain a visa on arrival, which is a separate counter before passport control — one more queue to cross before baggage. None of it is difficult; it is simply slower when a full aircraft lands ahead of yours.
How far the resorts are
The resort names sit along a single coastal road, but the distances between them are real.
- Hurghada city and Sakkala — the shortest run from the terminal.
- Makadi Bay and Sahl Hasheesh — south along the coast, a comfortable drive.
- El Gouna — north of the airport, a separate drive again.
- Soma Bay and Safaga — the longest of the usual hotel transfers.
Being met instead of searching
